Making compact rope was created by Archived Forum Admin
Dear All,

I produce compacted rope by usinf tungsten carbide dies for compacting of rope. However wire breakages occur during compacting due to friction. I have heard one system from EUROLLS (cassette system) is there anybody who use these kind of system for compacting.
I am looking for hearing you immediatelly,
Thanks for your help.
Best regards.

Is there any difference between a compact wire rope and Swaged/hammered Wire Rope?

I am in the process of developing compact wire rope setup and need to find some literature to guide me in this process. I have few questions if anyone can direct me to the relevant sources to find their answers.

When do we use compact die vs rollers to compact the rope?
Is compacting done at all the stages of wire rope construction i.e core, strand and when the rope is finally closed?
Is there a criteria to prefer dies over rollers for compacting?
If we compact the strand how do we ensure that the flat size is outside when the rope is finally being closed?
In order to produced 14mm 6x19 construction compact rope, should the rope be designed for 15 mm and than reduced to 14 mm through compacting process? What is the allowable percentage reduction for compacting?

appreciate any input.

regards,
