This webinar is intended for those in the wire industry involved primarily with the production and application of nonferrous rod and wire. It covers significant changes and improvements that have occurred over many centuries to factors involving mining, continuous casting, wiredrawing, and development of rod standards. Principles and practices of copper and aluminum conductors are discussed from a metallurgical perspective, and include the importance of impurities, annealability, surface effects, and property control. Finally, mechanisms that create and accelerate the formation of fines during wiredrawing are presented. This is a clip from the full video available to WAI Members at www.wirenet.org
