Description
Mechanical properties of high carbon steel wires drawn conventionally and hydrodynamically before and after rope manufacturing were investigated in this work. It was found that some propertiesโfor example, the number of twistsโremain practically unchanged but others, such as tensile strength or the number of bends, decreased in the process of rope formation. The drop of tensile strength of wires was larger in the case of wires drawn conventionally than hydrodynamically. Residual stresses were also determined.
