Stress development in 1350-H14 aluminum rod drawing

$15.00

This paper examines cold-work hardening, as it occurs within a rod breakdown machine, in detail for aluminum rod from various sources in order to explain observed differences in processability in a wire and cable facility. Studies were performed by means of surface quality, mechanical testing, and chemical and microstructural analysis. Significant differences were found in microstructure and surface quality. The paper attempts to correlate these findings with observed behavior on the factory floor.
