Wire for steel ropes

$15.00

Studies on the characteristics of wire used for steel rope are reviewed. Swaging was found to strengthen a large-grained mild steel wire and weaken a conventional rope wire. The ideal rope wire would have a little less than the maximum tensile strength, combined with some degree of deformability. Tests to identify such rope are proposed.
