Preece test for galvanized steel wire was created by Archived Forum Admin
Dear All,

I have problem on Preece test( copper sulfate test) for galvanized steel wires. Some wire rods give good results but some of them give bad results. (Some red points on the wire after test according to EN 50189 std.) Do you have any ideas about what affects Preece test?
Best regards

Murat

Check the flux , the zinc ammonium chloride, it is usually the cause of the red appearance on the wire.
when is not the right quality or gets damaged by acid drag from the cleaning baths.
