Danieli to upgrade Polish mill that is part of a division of Commercial Metals Company

Danieli Automation CMC Poland Partnership Modernizes Zawiercie Rolling Mill

Danieli Automationย will supply new hardware and software to upgradeย CMC Polandโ€™sย rolling mill inย Zawiercie, Poland. The modernization will optimize rolling performance, reduce downtime, and enhance overall plant efficiency through advanced automation technologies.

Improving Efficiency Through the Danieli Automation CMC Poland Upgrade

As part of the project,ย Danieli Automationย will installย new low-voltage inverter drivesย in the roughing and intermediate sections of the mill. These upgrades will improve machine control, increase operational stability, and simplify maintenance across the plantโ€™s systems.

The revamp also targets the reheating furnace that processes billets from CMCโ€™s meltshop. By installing modern hardware and software, Danieli will precisely control billet heating to ensure consistent rolling temperatures and improved product quality.

Enhanced Automation and Process Control

The project includes a fullย Level 1 automation system upgradeย for better real-time process management. Danieli will additionally provide aย new process control systemย to automatically set and monitor the furnace heating curves, ensuring efficiency and accuracy at every stage.

The upgrade, scheduled for completion by theย end of 2026, will allow the mill to achieve higher reliability and longer-term performance benefits.

Strengthening CMC Polandโ€™s Steel Production

The Zawiercie mill currently produces more thanย 500,000 metric tons per yearย of steel bars and wire rod. Its products serve multiple industries, includingย construction, agriculture, energy, machinery, and consumer goods. Output includesย wire rod, ribbed and plain wire in coils, andย welded meshย for concrete reinforcement.

CMC Poland operates as part ofย Commercial Metals Company (CMC), a global steel and metal manufacturer with operations across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. CMC also runs a major wire rod mill inย Jacksonville, Florida, supporting its international production network.
