Elsewedy Electric wins 6-year contract for underground cables for Nexel Denmark

Elsewedy Cables Nexel Denmark 66kV Contract Overview

On April 3, 2022, Elsewedy Cables in Egypt signed the Elsewedy Cables Nexel Denmark 66kV contract, a six‑year agreement to supply 66 kV XLPE underground cables to Nexel Denmark. This long‑term deal strengthens Elsewedy’s position in Europe’s medium‑ and high‑voltage cable market and supports Nexel’s grid upgrade plans.

Production will take place at Elsewedy’s modern facilities in the 10th of Ramadan City industrial zone near Cairo. From there, the company will ship cables to Nexel sites and storage locations across Denmark as project needs arise. In addition, the contract includes an option for cable network design services, giving Nexel access to Elsewedy’s engineering expertise.

Nexel Denmark, Andel Group, and Grid Reliability

Nexel Denmark operates within the Andel Group, the country’s largest energy supplier and grid operator. Through the grid companies Cerius and Radius Elnet, Andel manages electricity networks that serve about 1.4 million customers nationwide.

With the Elsewedy Cables Nexel Denmark 66kV contract in place, Nexel gains a dependable source of complex medium‑ and high‑voltage cable systems. As a result, the company can support ongoing investments in safe, efficient, and future‑ready power infrastructure across Denmark.

Strategic Milestone for Elsewedy Cables in Europe

Elsewedy Cables views the Nexel agreement as a major milestone in its drive to expand across Europe. The award highlights the company’s manufacturing capabilities, product quality, and engineering know‑how in higher‑voltage applications.

To maintain this edge, Elsewedy continues to invest in advanced machinery, production technologies, and rigorous testing facilities. These ongoing upgrades help the company deliver cables and accessories that meet strict European performance and safety standards.

Elsewedy Electric Group’s Global Manufacturing Footprint

As a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric Group, Elsewedy Cables benefits from a broad international platform. The group operates 15 manufacturing facilities worldwide, producing:

  • Power and specialty cables and accessories

  • Overhead lines and related hardware

  • Transformers for transmission and distribution networks

  • Smart meters and other grid‑modernization solutions

Through this global footprint, Elsewedy Cables supports utilities and grid operators with integrated offerings that span design, manufacturing, and technical support. Consequently, the Elsewedy Cables Nexel Denmark 66kV contract both advances Elsewedy’s European growth and supports Andel’s long‑term grid modernization strategy.
