Gaon Cable furthers U.S. presence by buying out a production subsidiary

Gaon Cable Strengthens U.S. Market Presence

Gaon Cable, a major cable manufacturer based in South Korea, has taken full ownership of LSCUS, its cable subsidiary in Tarboro, North Carolina. The company acquired the remaining 82% stake from LS Cable & System to secure complete control of the facility.

This move fits within Gaon Cableโ€™s strategy to localize production and expand its presence in the North American market.

Advancing a Clear Localization Strategy

Before the deal, Gaon Cable held 18% of LSCUS, while LS Cable & System owned the rest. The partnership began in 2017, after LS Group acquired the Energy division of Superior Essex and created LSCUS.

With full ownership, Gaon Cable aims to respond faster to local demand and improve supply chain efficiency. The company plans to tailor products to market needs while increasing manufacturing output.

CEO Jeong Hyun said the acquisition serves as a milestone for the companyโ€™s U.S. strategy.

โ€œWe will enhance our competitiveness through a stable local supply chain and locally tailored products,โ€ he said. โ€œThis creates a strong base for growth in global and North American markets.โ€

Boosting Production at the Tarboro Facility

The Tarboro plant covers 294,000 square feet and began operating in 2012. It includes a 128.5-foot continuous catenary vulcanization (CCV) tower used to produce medium-voltage cables. The facility also has the capacity to manufacture high-voltage cables as demand grows.

With direct control of this facility, Gaon Cable can improve production speed, maintain quality standards, and support new infrastructure projects throughout the U.S.
