Hellenic Cables Powers Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm
Hellenic Cables, part of Cenergy Holdings, has secured a major EPCI contract to supply cables for the Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm Project in the Baltic Sea. The agreement strengthens Germany’s renewable power grid and supports the region’s clean energy transition.
Awarded by 50Hertz Offshore GmbH, the €400 million contract includes design, production, installation, and commissioning of two high-voltage cable systems.
Connecting Offshore Energy to Germany’s Grid
Hellenic Cables will deliver two 220 kV export cable systems that link the 927 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm to a new substation near Gnewitz in northern Germany.
The project covers about 80 km of submarine cable and 210 km of underground cable, along with accessories and testing. The company expects to finish and deliver the project by 2027.
Expanding Production with Sustainable Practices
Production will take place at Hellenic Cables’ Corinth facility for the submarine cables and its Thiva plant for the underground section. Both facilities use efficient manufacturing methods that reduce waste and environmental impact.
This large-scale project will boost Germany’s grid strength and reliability. At the same time, it supports Europe’s clean energy transition and its goal of achieving more sustainable power systems.
