FiberCorpโs plan for underserved areas
FiberCorp plans to connectย 76% of underserved regionsย in Italy byย 2025. These areas currently lack reliableย broadband service, so the potential impact remains significant. To reach this goal, TIM is developing aย single national access network.
As part of this plan, FiberCorp intends to merge withย Open Fiber, the state-controlled infrastructure company thatย Enelย andย Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP)ย created. In addition, starting inย 2022, TIM will deployย fixed wireless access (FWA)ย in zones that the FiberCorp fiber plan does not cover. Together, these steps aim to narrow theย digital divideย and support Italyโs widerย digitizationย agenda.

The selectedย fiber optic cable suppliersย will manage the fullย cable supply chainย within Italy. This structure strengthensย domestic industryย and also helps maintain strictย quality standards.

FiberCorp has already takenย concrete stepsย to build its own network. It has closed and awarded the first of two tenders forย fiber optic cable supply.
