GOC-UZ Expands Fiber Optic Cable Production in Uzbekistan
Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan (GOC-UZ) has launched construction of a new fiber optic cable manufacturing plant in the Jizzax free economic zone. This expansion strengthens Uzbekistan’s telecommunications infrastructure and increases domestic production capacity.
New Fiber Optic Plant in Jizzax
GOC-UZ already operates a production facility in Jizzax, where it employs 58 workers. The new plant will significantly boost output, increasing annual fiber optic cable production from 10,000 km to 50,000 km.
The company expects to complete construction in the first quarter of 2021. This project aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to modernize its telecom network. For more details on the national telecom operator, visit Uztelecom: https://uztelecom.uz
Job Creation and Network Expansion
The new facility will create 100 jobs in its initial phase, with plans to expand the workforce to 300 employees. This growth supports Uzbekistan’s ongoing investment in digital infrastructure.
In 2020, the country installed 26,500 km of fiber optic lines, demonstrating strong demand for high-speed connectivity.
Joint Venture Partnership
GOC-UZ operates as a joint venture between Global Optical Communication Co. Ltd., Uni Asset Global Co. Ltd., and Uztelecom. The South Korean partners hold a 55% ownership stake, while Uztelecom retains the remaining share.
