LS Cable & System Signs Offshore Wind Cable Deal with Ørsted
LS Cable & System has signed a five-year contract with Ørsted to supply high-voltage export cables for offshore wind farms.
Expanding Offshore Wind Collaboration
Although the company did not disclose the total contract value, reports suggest the deal could reach hundreds of millions of dollars. This agreement strengthens the long-standing partnership between LS Cable & System and Ørsted.
Previously, LS Cable & System supplied cables for major offshore projects. For example, the company contributed to Hornsea One and Two in the UK, the world’s largest offshore wind farms. In addition, it will deliver subsea cables for the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a projects in Taiwan.
Supporting Korea’s Renewable Energy Goals
Meanwhile, Ørsted plans to develop a 1.6 GW offshore wind farm near Incheon, South Korea. This large-scale project will include 100 to 140 wind turbines.
Once completed, the wind farm will generate enough electricity to power 1.3 million households annually. As a result, it will play a key role in advancing South Korea’s Green New Deal, which targets 12 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

According to Myung Roe-hyun, CEO of LS Cable & System, demand for renewable energy continues to grow. He emphasized that the company remains committed to expanding its partnership with Ørsted, a global leader in offshore wind energy.
