LS Cable reports Taiwanese offshore order for 170 km of submarine cable

LS Cable Secures Yunlin Offshore Wind Subsea Cable Project

LS Cable & System Ltd. has secured a major contract to supply the Yunlin offshore wind subsea cable system in Taiwan. As a result, the company continues to expand its presence in the global offshore wind market.

In addition, the agreement includes collaboration with a German wind power company, which further strengthens LS Cable’s role in renewable energy infrastructure.

Project Scope and Technical Details

The project requires approximately 170 kilometers of high-voltage subsea cables. These cables will support the Yunlin offshore wind farm, located off Yunlin County, Taiwan.

LS Cable & System will manufacture and deliver the cables. Meanwhile, the project developer, YunNeng Wind Power Co., operates as part of the WPD Group. Learn more at https://www.wpd.de.

First Subsea Cable Export for South Korea

Notably, this contract marks the first subsea cable export from South Korea. Therefore, it highlights LS Cable’s advanced technology and growing competitiveness in the offshore wind sector.

Although the company has not disclosed the contract value, the deal signals strong potential for future international expansion.

Taiwan’s Renewable Energy Expansion

At the same time, Taiwan continues to invest in renewable energy. The country plans to phase out nuclear power by 2025.

To support this shift, Taiwan has committed approximately $23 billion to develop 5.5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity. Consequently, the region has become a key market for offshore wind developers and suppliers.

Strengthening Global Market Position

Looking ahead, LS Cable & System aims to strengthen its position in both Asian and European offshore wind markets. Furthermore, the company continues to pursue new opportunities in subsea cable manufacturing.

WPD Group, established in Germany in 1996, has completed more than 400 wind farm projects worldwide. As a result, it brings extensive experience in wind farm construction and operations.
