Vattenfall Awards Norfolk Vanguard Export Cable Contract
Vattenfall has chosen LS Cable & System (LS C&S) as the preferred supplier for the export cable contract on the Norfolk Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm in the U.K. LS C&S will work in consortium with DEME Offshore to deliver a full turnkey export cable solution.

LS Cable & System and DEME to Deliver HVDC Export Cables
The LS C&S–DEME consortium will manage the design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and testing of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) export cables for the entire Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone. The scope includes about 180 km of HVDC export cables onshore and around 320 km offshore, connecting the wind zone to the U.K. national transmission grid.
Located approximately 47 km off the Norfolk coast, Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone will generate clean power for more than four million homes when fully operational. The partners plan to execute the cable works during 2027 and 2028 using a cable‑laying vessel, a trailing suction hopper dredger, and a fallpipe vessel from the DEME fleet.
Renewable-Energy Manufactured Export Cables
“We are pleased to announce the 320 kV offshore cable being supplied by LS Cable & System will be manufactured solely using renewable energy, which is also certified by LS’s Environmental Product Declaration Certification,” said Hyungwon Kim, Executive at LS C&S.
“We’re delighted to have taken the next step with LS Cable & System and DEME Group who will provide the export cables for the whole Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone,” said Catrin Jung, Head of Offshore Wind at Vattenfall. “This is a big milestone for the project, which is vital to deliver fossil‑free living within a generation.”
Growing Project Portfolio for LS Cable & System
This latest win for LS Cable & System follows a recent export cable contract for Vattenfall’s Norfolk Boreas Wind Farm, which also covers design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and testing of approximately 360 km of HVDC export cable.
In addition, Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone received the National Infrastructure Planning Association (NIPA) Best Project award last November, highlighting the zone’s importance within the U.K.’s clean energy transition.
