MWS completes move into larger location; sees its medical wire outlook as very bright

MWS Oxnard Fine Wire Facility Boosts Capacity

MWS Wire Industries, known for offering one of the worldโ€™s largest selections of magnet wire, has completed a newย 30,000โ€‘sqโ€‘ft MWS Oxnard fine wire facilityย in Oxnard, California. The company describes the site as an agile production hub for drawing, shaping, serving, twisting, and insulating wire for highโ€‘technology customers worldwide.

Presidentย Benjamin Konradย explained that MWS has invested heavily in a building that reflects its longโ€‘term commitment to both employees and customers. The new facility houses the latest fineโ€‘wire production equipment and already includes aย 40,000โ€‘sqโ€‘ft warehouse, more than doubling the storage space available at the former Westlake Village, California, site. MWS also plans to expand the building by an additionalย 50,000 sq ftย in the future.

New Manufacturing Capabilities and Valueโ€‘Added Services

Over the next year, MWS will significantly increase manufacturing capacity by adding new machines. These upgrades will support additional wire manufacturing capabilities and expanded valueโ€‘added services for customers that require specialized configurations and finishes.

Konrad noted that MWS intends to build on the formula that has guided the company for the past 50 years: strong customer service, consistent quality, competitive lead times, and broad availability of precision fine wire. The goal is to meet rapidly evolving requirements in electronics, aerospace, medical, and other highโ€‘tech sectors over the next five decades as well.

Growth in MWS Medical Wire and New Markets

MWS has also made major strides in itsย medical wireย business. The company has addedย five new sales organizationsย covering three continents, achievedย ISO 13485:2016ย certification for medical device quality management, and acquired strategic equipment forย precious metal drawingย andย laser ablation.

In addition, MWS launched a dedicatedย medical wire websiteย and entered an emerging marketplace focused on earlyโ€‘stage medical device development. The company notes that it is the first wire manufacturer to feature its products onย Chamfr, an online platform that connects device developers with readyโ€‘toโ€‘use medical components.

Backed by The Elektrisola Group

Sinceย 2014, MWS has operated as part ofย The Elektrisola Group, a global producer of fine and ultraโ€‘fine magnet wire. Elektrisola runs eight manufacturing plants acrossย Europeย (Germany, two sites in Italy, Switzerland),ย North Americaย (U.S. and Mexico), andย Asiaย (Malaysia and China).

This group backing gives MWS access to a broad technology base, global supply capabilities, and a strong international network. Konrad summed up the companyโ€™s outlook by saying that MWS is excited for the future and eager to โ€œget down to the wireโ€ on new and existing customer projects.
