NKT Expands Its Presence in Poland
NKT has announced plans to strengthen its operations in Poland with a new local execution hub in Gdynia, near the Baltic Sea. The expansion supports NKT’s goal of advancing Poland’s green energy transformation, positioning the company to meet the rising demand for both onshore and offshore power cables.
Preparing for Poland’s Offshore Wind Growth
According to NKT, the new hub will operate as a project execution center rather than a production site. From Gdynia, teams will manage local onshore and offshore cable projects, including upcoming offshore wind farm installations in the Baltic Sea region.
Initially, the company plans to hire power cable jointers responsible for cable installation and connection work. Over time, NKT will add project managers and offshore specialists as new renewable energy projects launch across Poland. This step ensures NKT can respond effectively to national infrastructure developments and renewable initiatives.
Building Local Expertise Through the Execution Hub
An NKT spokesperson explained that the Gdynia hub will grow in stages as the Polish power cable market expands. “Our first priority is to bring in skilled cable jointers who can support installation projects,” they said. “Later, we will hire project-oriented staff to manage larger offshore wind initiatives linked to future contracts in Poland.”
By developing local expertise, NKT aims to accelerate project delivery and strengthen its Polish supply chain. The company expects to hire its first employees by the end of 2021, with more positions added as offshore wind projects gain traction in the coming years.
NKT Strengthens Its Polish Footprint
With two established manufacturing facilities in Poland already producing building wires, low-voltage power cables, and PVC compounds, NKT is well-positioned to handle increased electricity infrastructure demand. These facilities will complement the new execution hub, creating a stronger foundation for Poland’s renewable energy goals.
Supporting Poland’s Green Energy Transformation
NKT CEO Alexander Kara emphasized that this move reflects the company’s long-term vision for sustainable energy. “We already have a strong footprint in Poland,” he said. “It’s natural for us to build on that success. This new hub allows us to play a key role in supporting Poland’s plan to develop up to 11 GW of offshore wind capacity in the Baltic Sea by 2040.”
As Poland’s green energy initiatives accelerate, the new NKT execution hub will serve as an important base for local operations, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting Europe’s renewable transformation and sustainable power transmission infrastructure.
