NKT Wins Equinor Cable Contract for North Sea Platforms
NKT has secured a turnkey contract for the Equinor offshore platform cable project, supporting power connectivity between key oil and gas installations in the North Sea.
Equinor Offshore Platform Cable Project Scope
Under this Equinor offshore platform cable project, NKT will supply and install 62 km of 132 kV AC XLPE high-voltage power cable. The system will connect the Johan Sverdrup 2 and Gina Krog platforms.
The contract, valued at approximately €29 million, enables Equinor to power the Gina Krog platform from shore. This setup uses the existing power link under development between Johan Sverdrup 2 and the onshore grid.

Supporting Lower Emissions in Offshore Operations

Advanced Installation Capabilities
NKT will carry out installation using its specialized cable-laying vessel, NKT Victoria. This capability allows the company to manage complex offshore projects efficiently and maintain high-quality standards.
In addition, NKT is already working on the power-from-shore connection for Johan Sverdrup 2. The company has also completed similar connections for Johan Sverdrup 1 and Martin Linge.
