Orient Cable wins contract for Hollandse Kust West Beta wind farm project

Orient Cable Hollandse Kust West Beta Project Powers Dutch Offshore Wind

Orient Cable, in partnership with Boskalis, secured the Hollandse Kust West Beta export cable contract from TenneT. The Orient Cable Hollandse Kust West Beta project will connect a 700 MW offshore wind farm to the Netherlands’ onshore grid, helping the country move closer to its renewable energy targets.

This collaboration showcases how global expertise is driving Europe’s transition to cleaner power.

Delivering Export Cable Systems for Clean Energy

The contract includes two 65-kilometer-long 220 kV export cables linking the Hollandse Kust West Beta substation to Wijk aan Zee, where they will connect with TenneT’s onshore infrastructure. In addition, Orient Cable will supply a nine-kilometer 66 kV interconnector to connect the Hollandse Kust West Alpha and Beta offshore substations.

Boskalis will complete the offshore cable installation using its advanced marine equipment. Together, the companies will support efficient grid connection and stable renewable power delivery.

Manufacturing High-Quality Subsea Cables

Orient Cable will design, engineer, and manufacture the 220 kV XLPE-insulated cables and associated accessories at its Ningbo, China facility. This site, recognized as the world’s largest producer of high- and extra-high-voltage subsea cables, provides modern manufacturing and testing technology.

With this expertise, Orient Cable ensures reliable products that meet the demands of long-distance power transmission under harsh marine conditions.

Strengthening Renewable Infrastructure in the Netherlands

The Hollandse Kust West Beta project is expected to be completed in 2025. Once operational, it will transmit renewable power to millions of homes and reduce the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels.

By supporting TenneT’s offshore initiatives, Orient Cable helps drive the Netherlands’ goal to cut carbon emissions by 49% by 2030, building a more sustainable energy network for future generations.
