Primetals Technologies Wins Contract From Kaptan Iron & Steel
Primetals Technologiesย has signed a major agreement withย Kaptan Demir รelikย (Kaptan Iron & Steel) to supply anย upstream millย for its production site inย Marmara Ereฤlisi, Turkey. This new partnership โ theย Primetals Kaptan Iron Steel Contractย โ marks another milestone in advancing Turkeyโs steel manufacturing capabilities.
Primetals Kaptan Iron Steel Contract Expands Manufacturing Capacity
The new mill will processย round feedstocksย designed for further rolling in the siteโs wire rod outlet. With an anticipatedย annual capacity of 650,000 metric tons, the mill will produceย highโvalue steel gradesย including carbon, SBQ, and austenitic stainless steels. These materials will serve theย engineeringย andย automotiveย sectors across bothย domestic and export markets.
According to the company,ย hot commissioningย for the complete installation is planned forย midโ2022. The facility will feature aย maximum rolling rate of 130 tons per hourย and will handle billets sizedย 130, 160, and 200 mm square by 12 meters long. The final feedstock diameters will range fromย 17 mm to 33 mm, optimized for the wire rod outletโs roll pass design.
Engineers are also preparing the millโs layout and equipment for integration with aย future bar outlet, transforming the installation into aย stateโofโtheโart combined millย capable of producing quality and stainlessโsteel bars.
