Prysmian Group bets on diversity & inclusion to enhance its โ€œhuman capitalโ€

Prysmian Group Diversity & Inclusion Push Strengthens People Strategy

On May 12, 2021,ย Prysmian Groupย announced a renewedย Prysmian Group diversity & inclusion pushย to support its 28,000 employees worldwide. The Group now links part of managersโ€™ variable pay to clear genderโ€‘balance targets, so diversity and inclusion become measurable business priorities.

New Global Steering Committee for the Prysmian Group Diversity & Inclusion Push

To highlight the strategic role of gender and cultural diversity, Prysmian created aย Global Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. This team sets D&I objectives at each organizational level and then supports concrete actions that turn those goals into daily practice.

The Committee also promotes cultural change so inclusion grows across the workplace.ย Aysun Kalmik, Human Resources Director for Prysmian Turkey, serves as Leader, whileย Prasha Sarwate, Product Development Manager at the Lincoln (Rhode Island) plant, acts as Deputy Leader.

Clear 2022 Gender Targets and Linked Incentives

Prysmian set specific D&I goals to improve gender balance byย 2022:

  • Raise womenโ€™s share of new whiteโ€‘collar permanent hires toย 40%ย (up from 34% in 2020 and 30% in 2016).

  • Increase the percentage ofย women managersย (from junior to top roles) fromย 21.9% to 25%.

  • Grow female representation inย executive positionsย fromย 6% in 2016 to 18% in 2022.

The Group also introduced key indicators, including safety metrics, in allย 104 plantsย worldwide. It then embedded these D&I parameters in its sustainability objectives and tied them directly to variable remuneration for company managers.

Global eNclusion Week: Five Days of Digital D&I Dialogues

Prysmianโ€™s firstย Global eNclusion Weekย runs fromย 17 to 21 Mayย as a fiveโ€‘day digital event. The program includes online panels and workshops that show why diverse and inclusive workplaces create better outcomes.

The agenda focuses on four main themes:ย Gender Diversity,ย Diversity & Inclusion in all its forms,ย Inclusive Culture in the workplaceย andย Generational D&I. The week opens onย 14 Mayย with remarks fromย Fabrizio Rutschmann, Chief HR Officer, followed by speakers such asย Valerio Battista,ย Mimi Kung,ย Eric Rondolat,ย Sabrina Ritossa Fernandez,ย Maria Cristina Bifulcoย andย Massimo Battaini.

Inclusive, International Participation and Business Impact

Global eNclusion Week brings together an international and multicultural community for one week of open events. Speakers from different industries and backgrounds share best practices, and employees gain practical ideas they can apply in their own teams.

Fabrizio Rutschmann notes that Prysmian treats gender, age and cultural diversity as a business necessity rather than a slogan. Because the Group works with customers, suppliers and shareholders from many cultures, it needs an inclusive environment that encourages dialogue and strengthens corporate culture.

Side by Side: Prysmianโ€™s Ongoing D&I Platform

Prysmian believes that each personโ€™s background, leadership style and attitude can create value. Its global footprint helps the company promote an inclusive environment and build a strong shared identity.

Theย Side by Sideย program serves as Prysmianโ€™s core D&I platform. Through this initiative, the Group launches projects, training and communication that embed Diversity & Inclusion across regions and functions, so employees feel understood, respected and included.
