Prysmian Group breaks ground for major expansion of its plant in Marshall, Texas

Prysmian Marshall Texas Plant Expansion Powers Grid Growth

On July 3, 2022,ย Prysmian Groupย broke ground on a 50 million dollar expansion at its Marshall plant in Texas. This project supports rapid growth in power distribution and transmission markets. It also helps utilities meet rising demand for clean energy and grid upgrades across North America.

Major Investment in the Marshall Facility

The 50 million dollar project will finish in early summer 2023. At that point, the plant will exceed one million square feet and feature key capability upgrades. In addition, this work forms part of Prysmianโ€™s broader 100 million dollar commitment to upgrade plants across its North American footprint. As a result, the company can better support infrastructure renewal and new renewable energy connections in the region.

Prysmian Group expanded its North American presence when it acquired General Cable in 2018. Since then, the Marshall facility has become a core site that serves major utility and clean energy customers.

Job Creation and Community Benefits

Today, the Marshall plant employs more than 400 people. The expansion will add about 75 new roles, including machine operators, logistics staff, and skilled trades. Plant Director David Cooper praised the current team and welcomed the chance to grow both the workforce and the siteโ€™s impact on the local community.

The facility has already started hiring for these new positions. It plans to complete recruitment in the fall. Therefore, the project not only increases cable output but also strengthens the local economy in East Texas.

Supporting Next-Generation Power Grids

โ€œThe Marshall expansion is crucial in our commitment to develop the next generation power distribution and transmission grids that will support the energy transition in the U.S. and Canada,โ€ said Andrea Pirondini, CEO of Prysmian Group North America. He noted that this investment marks another step toward transforming how the region distributes and transmits power. It especially matters as utilities bring more renewable resources online.

The Marshall plant is Prysmianโ€™s largest facility in North America. It produces much of the regionโ€™s renewable energy cable products. Consequently, the expansion will play a key role in enabling both the energy transition and the digital transformation of power networks.

Backing Major Renewable and Transmission Projects

Prysmian Group continues to secure major projects that rely on advanced cable technology. Recent wins include the largest submarine cable contract in the U.S. fromย Dominion Energy, the Vineyard Offshore Wind Farm Project, and the SOO Green Link Project. That project will deliver high-voltage direct current underground transmission cables along existing railroad corridors.

With the Marshall Texas plant expansion and its broader project pipeline, Prysmian Group strengthens its position as a leading partner for utilities, developers, and transmission operators focused on clean energy and resilient grid infrastructure.
