NKT subsidiary wins Hollandse Kust Zuid inter-array cable contract
A subsidiary of TKH Group has secured a major contract from Vattenfall to supply 150 km of 66 kV inter-array cables for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) 1-2 offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The scope includes manufacturing and delivering 150 km of 66 kV aluminum core cables plus accessories. In addition, the project team plans installation and cable laying during 2022 and 2023, so the cable work aligns with the wider construction schedule.
The Hollandse Kust Zuid 1-2 wind farm sits roughly 22 km off the Dutch coast, between The Hague and Zandvoort, in the North Sea. When fully built, HKZ 1-2 will add around 750 MW of installed capacity and generate enough electricity to cover the annual consumption of about 1–1.5 million Dutch households, which further supports the Netherlands’ offshore wind targets.
From 2022 onward, the partners will start delivering and installing the inter-array cables. They expect the offshore wind farm to reach full operation around 2023–2024, and, as a result, Hollandse Kust Zuid will contribute substantial fossil-free power to the Dutch grid.
