Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has completed a major UL Basingstoke testing facility expansion to meet rising demand for testing and regulatory certification services. The upgraded site strengthens UL’s ability to support evolving technologies and industry standards.
UL Basingstoke Testing Facility Expansion Details
UL has made a significant investment in its Basingstoke location. The expansion adds 37,000 square feet, which triples the facility’s total size. In particular, 15,000 square feet now support EMC and wireless testing.
As a result, the site now serves as UL’s largest commercial test facility in the U.K.
Advanced EMC and Wireless Testing Capabilities
The upgraded facility includes advanced equipment to support modern testing needs:
- Four 3-meter semi-anechoic chambers
- Three 3-meter fully anechoic chambers
- Six large screened rooms
- Seven DASY6 SAR systems
These systems enable precise testing for a wide range of electronic and wireless products.
Supporting Emerging Technologies and Industry Demand
Rapid advancements in 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and connected devices continue to reshape the market. Therefore, companies must meet stricter standards for security, interoperability, and performance.
UL expanded the site to address these demands. In addition, customers requested larger lab capacity, faster testing timelines, and support for higher frequency bands.
