Wire & Tube Düsseldorf postponement announcement
Messe Düsseldorf GmbH has postponed wire Düsseldorf, Tube Düsseldorf, and several other trade fairs because of the Coronavirus situation. The affected events include ProWein, wire, Tube, Beauty, Top Hair, and Energy Storage Europe. This decision reflects rising health risks and growing uncertainty among participants.
New dates under discussion
Messe Düsseldorf now works closely with all partners to identify new dates as soon as possible. This coordination should give exhibitors and visitors more planning security.
In addition, the organizer follows guidance from the German government’s crisis management team and the principles of the Robert Koch Institute when it assesses event risk. Because infection numbers in Europe have increased sharply and travel has become more difficult, the company decided to revise its March schedule.
Safety-first approach from Messe Düsseldorf
CEO Werner M. Dornscheidt emphasized that customers, partners, and employees must be able to trust Messe Düsseldorf. That trust applies not only to running major international events, but also to making tough decisions when safety is at stake.
Similarly, Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf and chairman of the Supervisory Board, admitted that the postponements are difficult for everyone. However, he stressed that they are necessary in light of fast-moving developments and help protect both Messe Düsseldorf and its customers.
Status of interpack and drupa
At this time, Messe Düsseldorf still plans to hold the major trade fairs interpack and drupa in May and June. Even so, the company continues to monitor the situation very closely.
Dornscheidt noted that Messe Düsseldorf takes all customer questions about the Coronavirus seriously. Therefore, it will re-evaluate conditions in good time, together with health authorities and partners, and then make any further decisions that may be required.
Wire & Tube timing and future dates
The week-long wire and Tube Düsseldorf events had been scheduled for March 30 to April 3. When asked about new dates for these biennial shows, a Messe spokesperson said it was too early to announce anything, since many scheduling and logistical factors still need review.
