Japan’s ministry of internal affairs and communications (MIC) has approved a draft framework for strengthening the resilience and protection of international submarine cable infrastructure, including measures to diversify cable landing sites, increase route redundancy and strengthen oversight of critical communications assets. The proposals will form the basis of a report due to be finalised later this summer.
