Belden's 10GXM13: Engineering a Filler-Free Cat 6A Cable
Loading
/

Belden’s new 10GXM13 Cat 6A U/UTP cable breaks from the typical Category 6A playbook. The design is smaller and more compact, and it leaves out the usual central filler. The cable slips easily into dense racks and pathways while still carrying 10 Gb/s traffic with confidence.

Your hosts, Rachel Monroe and Thomas Hale go inside Belden’s featured article to discuss why engineers went back to the drawing board and rethought how to control crosstalk and preserve the cable’s geometry without the plastic spine that normally does that job. At every step, they designed and tested with strict TIA performance requirements in mind.

The team leaned on advanced materials, tight process control, and round after round of testing. They proved they could remove the filler and still hit Category 6A targets. The finished cable shows how much “art” still shapes the science of copper design.
