Acid purification—technical and economic benefits for the wire industry

$15.00

Wire companies in South Africa and the USA have demonstrated the environmental and economic benefits of acid purification and automatic filtration. A catalyst is used in this process to change the solubility of ferrous chloride or ferrous sulfate. This paper discusses a technology commercialized in 2000 which is presently used in 15 countries. The benefits include: reduced acid concentrations, controlled iron concentrations, elimination of acid bath dumps/decants, reduced waste treatment neutralization costs, reduced virgin acid purchases, and reduced air emissions.
