Low cost processes used in Germany for the black coloring of wire products are described. Nails can be blackened by burning with oil or fat. A purely chemical coloring method is used for pins and needles; color is produced by formation of cuprous sulfate. The mechanical method of lacquering is also discussed. Techniques for mass production are described.
