Methods for clarification of wiredrawing compounds are discussed. Clarification by settling, media clarification, and clarification by flotation and frothing are described; the disadvantages of each method are listed. Centrifugal clarification is concluded to show the greatest promise. The use of the centrifuge and the hydrocyclone are described; the hydrocyclone is concluded to be the best method available for clarification of wiredrawing compounds.
