The design of raw material and tools has an important influence on the quality of drawn section rods and wire. Various designing methods and their effects on products are shown by the example of a nonsymmetrical section with eight corners. The examinations presented in this paper were performed in practical experiments and theoretical calculations by the finite-element-method (FEM).
