Cloud computing means that the individual computers on your desk, in your house or company will not exist any more. There will be just terminals which are connected to big metropolitan or national “IT power stations” providing highest data processing functionality, similar to our electric mains plugs which get their power delivered from big metropolitan or national electric power stations.
This new technology is about to become reality. It will need extremely high data transfer rates up to 1012 bits (1 Terabit) per second, available on the world wide web.
