Patenting process with water quench for steel wire

$15.00

In steel wire patenting, the wires are cooled after austenitization from approximately 1000ยฐC to approximately 500 to 600ยฐC in order to transfrom to sorbite. Up to now, this has occurred in liquid lead, molten salt, or fluidized sand. Thanks to a newly developed cooling technology using a water bath, it is possible to introduce an environmentally sound system which results in the desired sorbitic microstructural conditions.
