OVC issues call for applications as it is now 4th chapter to offer scholarships

The Wire Association International (WAI) Ohio Valley Chapter (OVC) has launched its new scholarship program and now invites applications. The program, administered by The Wire Foundation, offers up to two awards of $1,500 each. Applicants must apply before the WAI Ohio Valley scholarship deadline of March 29.

WAI Ohio Valley Scholarship Program Details

The WAI Ohio Valley scholarship supports students connected to WAI members. The chapter covers Ohio, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania, and western New York. It joins the New England, Southeast, and Midwest chapters in offering similar programs.

“This is a good cause for the chapter and a big moment for all our members,” said OVC President Tom Maxwell.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • High school seniors or college students.
  • Children, grandchildren, or dependents of WAI Ohio Valley Chapter members in good standing.
  • Enrollment in or acceptance to an accredited two-year or four-year program.

The program awards up to $1,500 per recipient. Preference may go to one student in a technical or associate program and another in a four-year college or university.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • A 300–500 word essay explaining why they deserve the scholarship.
  • An official transcript.
  • A resume highlighting community service and academic activities.
  • Three references.

Applicants may pursue any field of study. The program does not require financial information, but reviewers will consider special circumstances.
