Prysmian Group has signed a framework agreement with Enedis to supply a full range of medium-voltage cables that will support Franceโs ongoing power grid modernization.
The contract, valued at up to โฌ550 million, runs for seven years from 2026 to 2032 and includes an option to extend for an additional three years. The agreement strengthens Prysmianโs long-standing partnership with Enedis and reinforces its role in Franceโs energy transition strategy.
Domestic manufacturing supports grid upgrades
Under the agreement, Prysmian will manufacture the medium-voltage cables at its French production facilities in Gron (Yonne) and Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Seine-et-Marne). By producing the cables domestically, Prysmian continues to invest in local industrial capabilities while ensuring supply chain reliability for critical infrastructure.
The project forms part of Enedisโs broader plan to upgrade grid infrastructure in support of Franceโs low-carbon transition and renewable energy integration.
Sustainable materials and circular practices
Prysmian and Enedis have aligned the agreement with shared sustainability goals. The medium-voltage cables will incorporate more than 12% recycled aluminum, over 30% recycled copper, and recycled polyethylene for the outer jacket.
These material choices reflect a broader commitment to circular business practices and measurable carbon reduction across the value chain. The partnership demonstrates how utilities and manufacturers can work together to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high technical performance standards.
Supporting Prysmianโs long-term growth strategy
The agreement also supports Prysmianโs โAccelerating Growthโ strategic plan, which targets more than 55% of total group revenues from sustainable solutions by 2028 and aims to achieve net-zero Scope 3 emissions by 2035.
โThrough this partnership, we are translating sustainability from words into action,โ a Prysmian executive said. โBy relying on our local innovation and manufacturing expertise, weโre enabling Enedis to strengthen a grid that already sets a European benchmark for low-carbon performance.โ
Prysmian employs approximately 2,500 people in France and operates nine manufacturing facilities and four R&D centers across the country. The new framework agreement further consolidates the companyโs leadership role in Franceโs energy transition while supporting domestic production and advanced grid technologies.
