The Wire Association International (WAI) has announced key details for Wire Expo 2026, scheduled for May 6–7 at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This year’s theme, “Accelerating Progress Together – Where Wire, Innovation & Industry Connect,” emphasizes collaboration across the industry. For the first time, WAI will host the conference program inside the WAI Theater on the exhibit floor. As a result, attendees can access educational sessions, exhibits, and live demonstrations in one central location.
In addition, registrants will receive free cross-over access to the co-located Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo (EWPTE), expanding opportunities to explore related technologies.
According to WAI Executive Director Steven Fetteroll, the Midwest location offers convenient access for hundreds of companies. He also noted the strong support from partners, including Charter Steel, the EWPTE, and the city of Milwaukee. Learn more about WAI at https://wirenet.org.
Education Program Highlights
The event will feature 20 educational sessions hosted in the WAI Theater. WAI has organized the program into two focused tracks:
- Day 1: Integrated Manufacturing Excellence – covers the full production lifecycle, from raw materials to finished wire and cable
- Day 2: Digital Transformation & Industry 4.0 – explores AI, automation, data analytics, smart factories, and connected systems
These sessions provide both technical knowledge and forward-looking insights for industry professionals.
Program Add-Ons and Training Opportunities
Attendees can enhance their experience through several add-on programs:
- Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course (May 5): A pre-conference training session covering essential manufacturing concepts
- Advanced Extrusion Workshop (May 6): A hands-on session focused on extrusion processes and equipment
- Charter Steel Plant Tour (May 6): A guided tour of Charter Manufacturing operations
Charter Steel Plant Tour Experience
The Charter Steel plant tour offers a detailed look at the steelmaking process. Visitors will follow production from melt to rolling and final processing.
During the tour, attendees will see how Charter converts scrap into high-quality carbon and alloy wire and bar products. In addition, they will gain insight into how the company uses precision, technology, and craftsmanship to deliver consistent performance. Space for the tour is limited.
