Google and CTC Global announce initiative that will boost U.S. transmission capacity

Google is partnering with CTC Global to deploy advanced ACCC transmission conductors across the U.S., enhancing grid capacity to meet rising data center demand and support renewable integration. The initiative aims to fast-track reconductoring efforts, improving electricity reliability and accelerating the energy transition.

Supporting Reliable Energy for Data Centers and Renewables

Google has teamed up with CTC Global to accelerate grid modernization across the United States. Through this partnership, Google will help fund the deployment of advanced transmission conductors that enhance grid performance and increase energy capacity in fast-growing regions.

As Google expands its data center network, electricity demand continues to climb. Moreover, the companyโ€™s focus on renewable integration requires a stronger, more flexible grid. This collaboration aims to increase power flowimprove reliability, and support clean energy growth across key U.S. markets.

Expanding Grid Capacity with CTC Globalโ€™s Technology

CTC Global will utilize its Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) technology to boost transmission efficiency. These advanced conductors deliver more electricity on existing lines while reducing line losses. Additionally, their lightweight yet strong design allows utilities to upgrade systems quickly without building entirely new infrastructure.

With a proven record in 1,350 projects across 65 countries, CTC Global brings deep expertise to this initiative. As a result, utilities in power-hungry regions can meet growing demand more effectively while lowering overall costs and environmental impact. Furthermore, this aligns with Googleโ€™s goal of operating on carbon-free energy 24/7 by 2030.

Accelerating Energy Delivery and Reliability

Amanda Peterson Corio, Googleโ€™s Global Head of Data Center Energy, explained that expanding transmission capacity offers a huge opportunity for modernizing the nationโ€™s energy system.

โ€œBy accelerating reconductoring, we can dramatically cut the time and cost of transmitting electricity to power American homes and businesses,โ€ she said.

This collaboration demonstrates how technology-led partnerships can help meet Americaโ€™s growing digital and clean energy goals.

The Broader Impact of Google and CTC Global Grid Upgrades on Clean Energy Growth

Through this partnership, Google continues to invest in the U.S. energy transition while advancing cleaner, more efficient electricity delivery. The company plans to expand similar efforts to ensure that its data centers operate sustainably while supporting grid reliability nationwide.
