Nexans power cable/services contract with Enedis valued at over โ‚ฌ100 million

Nexans Wins Major Enedis Medium-Voltage Cable Contract

On July 3, 2022,ย Nexansย announced a contract worth more than 100 million euros to supplyย Enedis, Franceโ€™s distribution network operator, with medium-voltage power distribution cables and related services over the next four years. The deal strengthens the French grid and supports the rapid growth of renewable energy projects.

Medium-Voltage Cables Power Wind and Solar Growth

Under the agreement, Enedis will receive an extended volume ofย EDR-MAXย medium-voltage cables. The utility plans to use most of these directly buried cables to connect onshore wind and solar farms to the grid. Because EDR-MAX designs reduce environmental impact and improve total cost of ownership, they align with Enedisโ€™ long-term performance and sustainability goals.

The project combines technological innovation, environmental benefits, strong plant capability, and advanced digital services. It also includes full deployment ofย ULTRACKER, Nexansโ€™ digital supply chain solution that uses Internet of Things data, enhanced artificial intelligence, and cloud-based services to improve visibility and control over cable logistics.

Eco-Designed Cables Cut Carbon Emissions

Enedis selected Nexans in part for its new generation of eco-designed medium-voltage cables (NF C 33-226). These cables can reduce carbon emissions by up to 20% over their life cycle. In addition, Nexans offers a short supply loop, or โ€œshort circuit,โ€ that lets Enedis purchase and receive cable deliveries through a more localized chain, further cutting the carbon footprint of cable supply.

These technologies help Nexans support customers with high-performance, lower-impact cable solutions. The company also reinforces its position in France as a preferred supplier for medium-voltage infrastructure and creates opportunities for future energy and grid projects.

Nexans as a Strategic Partner for Enedis

Jรฉrรดme Bicail, director of the industrial sector division at Enedis, describes Nexans as a strategic supplier in the cable sector. He notes that the two companies already share key CSR priorities, including eco-design, carbon reduction commitments, and recycling solutions. This alignment helps them pursue long-term sustainability objectives together.

Bicail adds that Nexansโ€™ innovations, combined with end-to-end quality control, give Enedis secure capacity while improving product life cycle management. Their collaboration supports a more reliable, efficient, and sustainable power distribution network for France.
