Coleman Fiber Optic Cable Plant Marks a Milestone for Nigeria and West Africa
Coleman Technical Industries Limited (CTIL)ย has officially launchedย Nigeriaโs first fiber optic cable manufacturing plantย inย Ogun State. The new facility marks a major step for the nationโs growing technology and telecommunications industry.
Located along theย LagosโIbadan Expressway, the factory enables Nigeria to produce fiber optic cables locally instead of relying on imports. This move strengthens the countryโs digital infrastructure and boosts its capacity to serve both domestic and regional markets.
Coleman CEO Emphasizes Local Development and Vision
George Onafowokan, Managing Director and CEO ofย Coleman Technical Industries Limited, described the plantโs opening as a proud achievement for Nigerian manufacturing. He reaffirmed his belief inย local contentย and the importance ofย building capacity from within.
โOur mission is to enhance local production and reduce dependence on imported materials,โ Onafowokan said. He also noted that the companyโs long-term goal is to serveย West Africa, Central Africa, and nearlyย half of the African continent. When fully operational, the facility will becomeย Africaโs largest fiber optic cable plant.
Ogun State Government Welcomes the Initiative
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodunย praised Coleman for choosing the region for this milestone project. He called the plant a vital boost to the stateโs technology and connectivity plans.
The governor announced that Ogun State intends to layย 5,000 kilometers of fiber optic cablesย to improve broadband access. With Colemanโs new plant now operational, the state will have the materials and expertise to accelerate that mission.
