Southwire Begins Construction on New Georgia Distribution Facility
Southwire has started construction on a new 400,000-square-foot facility in Villa Rica, Georgia, as part of a $20 million expansion project. This Southwire Georgia distribution facility will strengthen the company’s logistics network and support growing customer demand.
Expanding Southwire’s Southeast Distribution Network
To begin with, Southwire (https://www.southwire.com) is building the new facility in Douglas County, within the same business park as its existing West Georgia and Retail East Customer Service Centers (CSC).
As a result, the new site will expand the company’s Southeast distribution complex and improve overall operational efficiency.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018 and will create approximately 60 new jobs in the region.
In addition, the facility’s location next to existing operations will allow Southwire to streamline inbound and outbound freight processes. Consequently, the company expects to reduce transportation costs while maintaining high service levels for customers.
Local officials have welcomed the expansion. The Douglas County Economic Development Authority highlighted the importance of Southwire’s continued investment in the area.
