The Interwire 2023 wire industry event marked a strong return for the Wire Association International (WAI), bringing global professionals together in Atlanta, Georgia, from May 9–11.
Event Overview
Interwire 2023 welcomed 3,184 attendees from 43 U.S. states and 42 countries, including representatives from 285 wire and cable manufacturing operations. The event took place at the Georgia World Congress Center, marking its first in-person gathering since 2019.
Keynote Speakers and Awards
Industry leaders delivered keynote presentations focused on the future of electrification. Speakers included Srinivas Siripurapu of Prysmian Group (https://www.prysmiangroup.com) and Rich Stinson, President and CEO of Southwire (https://www.southwire.com).
During the event, WAI presented Rich Stinson with the inaugural WAI Champion Award, recognizing his support for the association and its mission.
Exhibits and Innovation
A total of 335 exhibiting companies showcased products and technologies across 80 categories. WAI also introduced more than 30 new exhibitors, highlighting continued growth and innovation within the wire and cable industry.
Educational and Networking Highlights
Interwire 2023 featured a wide range of technical sessions and industry topics, including Industry 4.0, workforce development, extrusion and polymers, and market outlooks.
Former astronaut Mary Ellen Weber delivered two presentations, adding a unique perspective to the program. Attendees also participated in networking events such as the Welcome Reception at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Beer Garden sponsored by Rainbow Rubber, and the Cornhole Zone sponsored by James Monroe Wire & Cable Corp.
The Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing course, held on May 8, set a record with 209 participants, reinforcing the demand for industry education and training.
