SubCom chosen to supply 800 km of cable to extend existing Bahrain cable system

Beyon has selected SubCom to supply the 800-km Khaleej North submarine cable system, expanding Bahrainโ€™s Al Khaleej Cable to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. Integrated with SEA-ME-WE 6, the project will enhance regional connectivity, boosting capacity, resilience, and data exchange to support Gulf digital economy growth.

Beyon Khaleej North Submarine Cable Expansion Boosts Gulf Connectivity

Beyon, a leading digital infrastructure provider in Bahrain, has chosen SubCom to supply the cable for Khaleej North, an 800-kilometer submarine cable system that boosts Bahrainโ€™s Gulf connectivity.

The new system will extend the existing Al Khaleej Cable, linking Bahrain with Saudi ArabiaKuwait, and Iraq. With this expansion, Beyon strengthens its goal of providing fast and reliable digital connections throughout the region.

SubCom Partners with Beyon to Strengthen Regional Networks

SubCom originally supplied and continues to operate Beyonโ€™s Al Khaleej Cable. Now, the company will once again play a key role in expanding Bahrainโ€™s network capacity. The Khaleej North cable will also connect to the SEA-ME-WE 6 systemโ€” a 21,700 km high-speed submarine network spanning Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

As a result, the new connection will deliver faster speeds and greater network resilience. It will also create stronger data routes for governments, enterprises, and cloud providers across the region.

A Strategic Partnership for Bahrainโ€™s Digital Future

Beyon Chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa described the partnership with SubCom as โ€œstrategic and essentialโ€ to Bahrainโ€™s digital goals. He explained that increasing network speed and capacity will build a stronger digital foundation for the nationโ€™s future.

Meanwhile, SubCom CEO David Coughlan added that Khaleej North will meet rising demand from hyperscalers, enterprises, and government institutions. He noted that the project will strengthen Bahrainโ€™s role as a growing hub for digital exchange and innovation.

Driving Innovation Through the Beyon Khaleej North Submarine Cable Expansion

With Khaleej North, Beyon continues to position Bahrain as a key center for Gulf connectivity. The partnership with SubCom marks another step in improving network reliability, supporting cloud growth, and powering digital transformation across the region.
