Taihan Cable reports it will establish its 1st extra-high voltage cable plant in Vietnam

Taihan Cable & Solution will invest $54 million to build Vietnamโ€™s first 400kV-class EHV cable plant in Dong Nai Province. Scheduled to open in 2027, the facility will meet Vietnamโ€™s fast-growing power demand and support exports to Europe, North America, and Oceania, advancing Taihanโ€™s global expansion strategy.

Taihan Cable & Solution Co. announced on August 13 that its subsidiary Taihan Vina will invest $54 million to build Vietnamโ€™s first 400kV-class extra-high voltage (EHV) cable manufacturing facility. The project marks an important milestone in Taihanโ€™s global expansion strategy and supports Vietnamโ€™s growing energy infrastructure.

Expanding Taihanโ€™s Operations in Vietnam

The new plant will rise in the Long Thanh Industrial Park in Dong Nai Province, next to Taihan Vinaโ€™s current factory. It will cover 56,200 square meters and strengthen the companyโ€™s production capacity in Southeast Asia.

Construction begins in the first half of 2026, and operations are set to start in 2027. Moreover, once the facility opens, Taihan will supply EHV cables not only to Vietnamโ€™s domestic market but also to key export destinations, including Europe, North America, and Oceania.

Driving Vietnamโ€™s Power Infrastructure Growth

Vietnamโ€™s energy demand continues to surge alongside its industrial development. Analysts expect power consumption to grow by 10โ€“12% annually through 2030. This rapid growth, driven by large-scale 220kV and higher transmission projects, increases the need for high-quality EHV cables.

Therefore, Taihan Vinaโ€™s new facility will help meet this demand while enhancing supply stability. In addition, it will support Vietnamโ€™s broader goal of securing reliable power transmission infrastructure for economic growth.

Strengthening Global Market Reach

Taihan Cable & Solution currently operates two cable plants and one cable accessory plant in South Korea. Overseas, it runs facilities in South Africa, Kuwait, and Vietnam, and a cable accessory plant in Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 2005 and based in Ho Chi Minh CityTaihan Vina employs about 300 workers. Its product range includes high-voltage, medium-voltage, and overhead power cables. Last year, Taihan Vina achieved $132 million in sales, a 20% increase over the previous year.

A company spokesperson said, โ€œVietnamโ€™s strong infrastructure, industrial potential, and excellent location will help Taihan Vina become a leading global supplier in the EHV cable industry.โ€

Ultimately, this investment reinforces Taihanโ€™s mission to deliver innovative and dependable cable solutions worldwide. It also highlights Vietnamโ€™s emerging role as a manufacturing hub in the global power cable market.
