Taihan Cable & Solution won a turnkey contract to supply and install inter-array cables for the 532 MW Anma Offshore Wind Farm in South Korea. This project strengthens Taihanโs role in offshore wind and also supports South Koreaโs broader clean energy targets.โ
Turnkey scope and cable production
The contract is worth about โฌ113 million and covers the full turnkey scope. Taihan will handle design, manufacturing, transportation, and installation of the inter-array cables, and it will coordinate each stage to keep the project on schedule.โ
All submarine cables will come from the new Dangjin Submarine Cable Plant 1, which recently started operations for offshore wind projects. Moreover, this facility will supply both inter-array and export cables for multiple offshore developments, which improves capacity and shortens delivery times.โ
PALOS vessel and new plant investment
For offshore installation, Taihan will use PALOS, South Koreaโs only cableโlaying vessel (CLV). Recently, PALOS completed export cable installation at the 364.8 MW Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm, so it already has experience in similar marine conditions.โ
In addition, Taihan has approved investment in Submarine Cable Plant 2, which will produce 640 kV HVDC and 400 kV HVAC cables for highโcapacity transmission projects. Therefore, the company can support more complex offshore wind and grid projects in the future.โ
Anma offshore wind project overview
The 532 MW Anma Offshore Wind Farm will sit off the west coast of the Anma Archipelago in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, covering 83.9 million square meters. Furthermore, the project is one of five offshore wind developments that together received nearly 1.9 GW of capacity awards from the South Korean government at the end of 2024.โ
While Taihan manages the interโarray cables, LS Cable & System will supply the submarine export cables for Anma. Its subsidiary LS Marine will install those export cables, which further expands South Koreaโs domestic offshore wind supply chain.โ
