Improvement of ductility of aluminum drawn wire by alternate drawing

This paper proposes โ€œalternate drawingโ€ for high ductility as a production method of aluminum wire for an automotive wiring harness. Alternate drawing promises to decrease the additional shearing strain by alternating the drawing direction of every one pass or several passes. To confirm its usefulness, a comparison of the ductility between alternately drawn wires and unidirectionally drawn wires was made through the results of tensile testing and texture analysis.
