The Wire Association International (WAI) has appointed Daniel Blais as WAI president for 2024, with his one-year term beginning on January 1, 2024. In this role, he will lead the association’s Board of Directors and help guide strategic initiatives across the wire and cable industry.
Daniel Blais Named WAI President for 2024
Daniel Blais, Vice President of North America Engineering and Canada Manufacturing Utilities at Prysmian Group, brings extensive leadership experience to the position. Since joining Prysmian Group in 1987, he has advanced through several key roles. Currently, he operates from the company’s headquarters in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
In addition, Blais oversees engineering across North American manufacturing sites while leading operations at four Canadian facilities. Over time, he has taken on increasing responsibilities throughout Prysmian’s North American footprint.

Leadership Experience and Industry Involvement
Since becoming a WAI member in 2011, Blais has remained actively involved in the organization. He joined the Board of Directors in 2018 and, shortly after, became part of the Executive Committee in 2019.
Moreover, he co-chaired the 2022 Conference Programming Committee and contributed to both the Interwire Industry 4.0 Task Force and the Finance Committee. Academically, he holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Sherbrooke University in Quebec, Canada.
Vision for WAI in 2024
Looking ahead, Blais plans to strengthen WAI’s role as a leading industry resource. Specifically, he aims to expand access to educational materials, enhance technical resources, and deliver valuable industry insights to members.
