Amphenol Finalizes $1.7 Billion Acquisition of MTS Systems

Amphenol Corporationย (amphenol.com) announced plans to acquireย MTS Systems Corporationย (mts.com), a leading sensor manufacturer based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The transaction, valued atย $1.7โ€ฏbillion, was approved by both companiesโ€™ boards of directors. This move strengthens Amphenolโ€™s presence in the global sensor and testing markets.

Expanding Sensor Capabilities and Product Range

MTS Systems reportedย $895โ€ฏmillion in revenueย last year, ranking as Minnesotaโ€™s 30th-largest publicly traded company according toย Business Journalย research. Amphenol, which generatedย $8.2โ€ฏbillion in 2019 sales, continues to grow through strategic acquisitions that enhance its advanced technology portfolio.

Through this acquisition, Amphenol gains access to MTSโ€™s innovative sensor technologies, which complement its existing product lines. The company stated that this integration creates one of theย industryโ€™s broadest ranges of sensors and sensor-based solutions, serving industrial, automotive, aerospace, and measurement applications globally.

Strengthening Test and Simulation Potential

MTS Systems operates two key business segmentsโ€”Sensorsย andย Test & Simulation. Amphenol emphasized that while the sensor division will immediately expand its own offerings, theย test and simulation segmentย also brings valuable long-term growth opportunities. With MTSโ€™s advanced simulation systems, Amphenol can further support clients focused on performance, reliability, and efficiency testing.
