CommScope reports a $7.4 billion deal, its largest-ever acquisition

CommScope to Acquire ARRIS in $7.4 Billion Deal

CommScope has announced plans to acquire ARRIS International for $7.4 billion, marking the company’s largest acquisition to date. The deal aims to expand CommScope’s capabilities across wired and wireless communications infrastructure.

CommScope ARRIS Acquisition Strategy

The CommScope ARRIS acquisition will combine complementary technologies and services from both companies. As a result, the newly formed organization will target growth across emerging markets and evolving network technologies.

CommScope President and CEO Eddie Edwards emphasized that the acquisition supports long-term growth and shareholder value. He noted that the combined company will deliver end-to-end communications solutions that neither organization could achieve independently.

Expanding Technology and Market Reach

The acquisition positions CommScope to capitalize on major industry trends, including:

  • 5G and mobility advancements
  • Growth in fiber networks
  • Expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Increasing network convergence

In addition, the combined company will expand its product portfolio, strengthen R&D capabilities, and increase its reach across global markets.

ARRIS Role and Industry Impact

ARRIS CEO Bruce McClelland highlighted the strategic benefits of the deal. He stated that partnering with CommScope will accelerate innovation and support the development of next-generation connected technologies.

Together, the companies plan to enhance consumer connectivity experiences and support the growing demand for always-on digital infrastructure.

Investment and Financial Backing

To support the acquisition, The Carlyle Group will invest $1 billion in CommScope as a minority equity stakeholder. This investment strengthens CommScope’s financial position and supports long-term growth.

CommScope’s history traces back to its 1997 spin-off from General Instrument, which also connects to ARRIS’ legacy in set-top box technology.
