Danieli Group has installed a tailor-made roughing mill with shiftable stands at Nippon Steelโ€™s Kamaishi plant in Japan. The project boosts efficiency, flexibility, and rolling precision while marking another milestone in the partnership between these two global steel leaders.

Moreover, billets from this advanced system feed directly into Kamaishiโ€™s three-strand wire-rod mill. The plant produces various special steel grades, including mild, hard, low-alloy, spring, and bearing steels. With this upgrade, Nippon Steel strengthens its capability to meet diverse industrial and automotive demands.

Operating since 1961, the Kamaishi facility is recognized as Japanโ€™s longest-running wire rod mill. However, continuous innovation has kept it competitive. The latest upgrade helps extend the millโ€™s lifespan while improving product quality and production flexibility.

Danieli supplied two mono-groove vertical and horizontal housingless stands that enhance setup speed and rolling stability. As a result, the plant can handle more complex grades with higher precision and efficiency.

Ultimately, the project illustrates Danieliโ€™s commitment to innovation and customer-focused engineering. By working closely with Nippon Steel, Danieli continues to deliver high-performance solutions that advance steel production and sustainability across global markets.
