Elsewedy Electric logs 1st Rwanda order, is also the 1st job for companyโ€™s new plant

Elsewedy Electric Rwanda Cable Project Milestone

On April 1, 2022,ย Elsewedy Electricย (official site) announced two major milestones in Rwandaโ€™s energy market. The company secured an order forย 185.5 km of cableย from a Rwandan business, and it also completed theย first orderย from its new plant in theย Elsewedy Industrial Complex. This project strengthens Elsewedy Electricโ€™s position as a regional power solutions provider and opens the door to further work in East Africa.

Elsewedy Electric officially enteredย Rwandaโ€™s marketย through anย EPC contractย withย Rwanda Energy Groupย viaย EPC Africaย and its subsidiaryย Afrilott LTD. In this EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) model, Elsewedy Electric manages the full project lifecycle, from design and material sourcing to construction and delivery. As a result, the company can provide a complete, endโ€‘toโ€‘end infrastructure solution that supports Rwandaโ€™s longโ€‘term power strategy.

Under the agreement, Elsewedy Electric suppliedย 185.5 km of ACSR overhead (OH) cablesย to help reinforce Rwandaโ€™s power grid. These cables support the countryโ€™s development efforts, which face rising demand and limited existing supply. Moreover, theย Elsewedy Industrial Complexย produced and delivered the order before the plantโ€™s official inauguration, which demonstrates strong operational readiness, manufacturing capacity, and a clear commitment to the Rwandan market.

Rwanda, officially theย Republic of Rwanda, lies in theย Great Rift Valley, where theย African Great Lakes regionย meetsย East Africa. The landlocked nation sits just south of the Equator and shares borders withย Uganda,ย Tanzania,ย Burundi, and theย Democratic Republic of the Congo. Thanks to this location, Rwanda holds a strategic position for regional trade, crossโ€‘border power projects, and broader infrastructure growth across East and Central Africa.
