Elsewedy Electric Rwanda Cable Project Milestone
On April 1, 2022, Elsewedy Electric (official site) announced two major milestones in Rwanda’s energy market. The company secured an order for 185.5 km of cable from a Rwandan business, and it also completed the first order from its new plant in the Elsewedy Industrial Complex. This project strengthens Elsewedy Electric’s position as a regional power solutions provider and opens the door to further work in East Africa.
Elsewedy Electric officially entered Rwanda’s market through an EPC contract with Rwanda Energy Group via EPC Africa and its subsidiary Afrilott LTD. In this EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) model, Elsewedy Electric manages the full project lifecycle, from design and material sourcing to construction and delivery. As a result, the company can provide a complete, end‑to‑end infrastructure solution that supports Rwanda’s long‑term power strategy.
Under the agreement, Elsewedy Electric supplied 185.5 km of ACSR overhead (OH) cables to help reinforce Rwanda’s power grid. These cables support the country’s development efforts, which face rising demand and limited existing supply. Moreover, the Elsewedy Industrial Complex produced and delivered the order before the plant’s official inauguration, which demonstrates strong operational readiness, manufacturing capacity, and a clear commitment to the Rwandan market.
